Discussion

This small, rectangular spit was excavated in order to locate a possible pit (indicated as an anomaly by the high resolution geophysics). The feature was still not visible after the removal of this material, which was a sandy clay loam (Munsell colour 10YR 3/3). Only a single animal bone was found, with most of the 66 objects recovered being late Roman pot sherds.
